Easter waste/recycling collections

The long Easter weekend on 18 to 21 April means your recycling and rubbish collections will be a day later. There won’t be collections on Friday 18 April or Monday 21 April.

If you usually have a Friday collection, it will move to Saturday, 19 April.

Collections resume on Tuesday 22 April, and will be a day later all week.

Usual collection day Revised collection day
Friday 18 April Saturday 19 April
Monday 21 April Tuesday 22 April
Tuesday 22 April Wednesday 23 April
Wednesday 23 April Thursday 24 April
Thursday 24 April Friday 25 April
Friday 25 April Saturday 26 April

To help crews speed up collections, please put your boxes, bags and bins out by 7am on the day of collection, or the night before.

With waste collections a day later a higher volume of waste is likely. Squashing, crushing and flattening waste can help to reduce the number of trips that teams need to make to empty their trucks, as well as creating more space in your containers.

Update on environmental improvements at Stogursey Water Recycling Centre

This £1.5 million project is introducing new treatment processes to improve the quality of treated wastewater and ensure that Wessex Water continues to comply with Environment Agency standards.

It will also help to further improve the health of rivers, as their processes for removing chemicals such as phosphorus, which are found in many household products, are enhanced.

The work is to replace or add infrastructure to the water recycling centre and is taking place entirely within their existing site. Local residents may notice occasional increased traffic along Lime Street, Shurton Lane and on the access road into the water recycling centre.

There will be a heavy goods vehicle, wide-load delivery to and from site on Thursday 10 April 2025. This delivery will be supervised, with a 10mph speed limit and will not take place before 8am or after 4.30pm.

To assist with its safe passage, all residents will be asked to park only on one side of Lime Street for the day, they will be placing cones to assist in this effort. This will help prevent congestion and allow the delivery to proceed smoothly.

Sewerage services can be used as normal unless they advise otherwise.

They will be writing to local customers close to Lime Street and Shurton Lane early next week to advise them about this work.
